Not a viral clip.

Just neighbors stepping up for neighbors.
That spirit used to be normal. Today, it feels rare—but it doesn’t have to be.
At the heart of strong communities are people willing to show up, lend a hand, and care for one another. When we come together to serve, something powerful happens: families grow stronger, farms thrive, food systems improve, and communities become places where people actually want to live.
Helping others isn’t just good for those receiving support—it’s good for the soul and essential for rebuilding healthy, resilient communities.
A Modern Revival of the Barn Raising Tradition
In earlier generations, communities gathered for what were known as barn raisings—large volunteer events where neighbors of all ages worked together to build or repair a barn for a family in need. These weren’t just construction projects; they were community celebrations.
Everyone had a role.
Meals were shared.
Needs were met.
Relationships were strengthened.
Through this program, we are committed to reviving that same cooperative spirit—facilitating and participating in hands-on projects that serve real people with real needs, whenever and wherever possible.
Who We Serve
Priority is given to projects that directly support:
- Emergency disaster rescue and response
- Disaster relief and reconstruction
- Disadvantaged Community Revitalization
- Elderly individuals
- Struggling families
- Veterans
- People with disabilities
- Community food initiatives & sustainable gardening
- Nonprofits and grassroots community-building projects

- Family farmer construction projects
- Farm labor assistance for family farms
- Off-grid system construction
Vehicle & Mobile Living Support
- Auto repair and maintenance
- Auto, RV, and school bus (“schoolie”) rescue projects
- Tiny house construction
- Tiny house, RV, and mobile home repair and rehabilitation

How Labor, Tools, and Materials Are Provided
Labor for our projects is proudly provided by volunteers, members of our STEP Group, and local community members in the areas where services are delivered. By working with people who live in the community, we strengthen local connections while ensuring help reaches those who need it most.
Most tools and equipment are supplied by our organization through STEP Group service vehicles and participants in the Just Us Riders – Endeavor Program. This allows projects to move forward efficiently while keeping costs low and impact high.
Materials are provided on a case-by-case basis and depend on the resources available in the program’s materials fund. Every contribution directly supports repairs, accessibility improvements, disaster response, and community-building efforts.
